SAP, recognized globally as a leader in enterprise software solutions, is thrilled to announce the successful implementation of its Social Sabbatical program in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in collaboration with Pyxera Global and Pepper Labs.
This initiative unites SAP employees from various countries to engage in pro bono consulting projects, significantly aiding local social enterprises in their efforts to foster positive social transformation.
The dedicated team behind SAP’s Social Sabbatical in Malaysia includes representatives from SAP, Pyxera Global, Pepper Labs Sdn Bhd, and various participating NGOs and social enterprises. This international effort enables SAP employees to provide valuable pro bono consulting, creating a meaningful impact by supporting local initiatives aimed at promoting social change.
SAP’s Social Sabbatical is a distinguished Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program designed to harness and enhance talent within SAP while assisting nonprofits and social enterprises focused on empowering communities through digital inclusion. Employees are grouped into diverse teams to apply their skills and knowledge in unique, short-term assignments. In Kuala Lumpur, the SAP Social Sabbatical has collaborated with four social enterprises: 42KL, MySkills Foundation, Women of Will, and Biji-Biji. Throughout the program, SAP employees leveraged their expertise in strategy development, marketing, financial planning, and operations management to address organizational challenges and enhance the capabilities of these entities.
SAP strives to create an ecosystem where businesses prioritize both people and the environment, influencing the future economy. Acknowledging that many social enterprises are not yet prepared for B2B social procurement, SAP has initiated programs to help these organizations scale by offering tailored consulting, both in person and virtually.
To date, the Social Sabbatical has collaborated with 531 social enterprises across 54 countries, positively impacting 7 million lives and contributing 418,000 volunteer hours. Impressively, 98% of the participating social enterprises express satisfaction with their experiences and the results delivered through the program.
A standout beneficiary of this initiative is 42KL, a revolutionary computer science school operating without fees, classes, or teachers, with the goal of cultivating tech talent in the coming years. Through this partnership, SAP consultants assisted 42KL in crafting and implementing an effective marketing and outreach strategy that resonates with prospective students, industry leaders, and funding partners. Consequently, 42KL is set to establish a consistent influx of student enrollments and corporate support, facilitating program expansion and ensuring graduates find meaningful employment.
Another impactful story comes from MySkills Foundation, which aids at-risk youth in Malaysia by transforming school dropouts through mindset changes and relevant technical skills, aiding their reintegration into society. With SAP’s support, MySkills Foundation developed a strategic business roadmap for its social enterprise, Primus Wellness, which creates additional opportunities for at-risk youth, stimulates the local economy, and enhances the foundation’s financial health, operational efficiency, and revenue growth.
“The SAP consultants were instrumental in refining our communication, advocacy, and impact messaging strategy. They immersed themselves in understanding our challenges, personal journeys, cultural context, and organizational strengths. This allowed them to blend their global expertise with our local insights, resulting in something truly impactful,” said Rashvin Pal Singh, Group CEO of Biji-Biji Initiative & Mereka.
“The program was a transformative journey for Women of Will (WOW). The consultants grasped our strengths and challenges, developing systems, processes, and strategies that allowed us to transition from being merely ‘effective’ to also becoming ‘efficient.’ This support enables WOW to expand our programs and positively influence more women and communities in need throughout Malaysia,” noted Lakshwin Muruga, Executive Director of Women of Will (WOW), an NGO dedicated to empowering disadvantaged women by fostering entrepreneurship.
