More than twenty families in Kampung Gok Kapur, Kota Bharu are currently facing the loss of their homes and belongings following a devastating fire that occurred on 8 June 2026. The incident has left many residents struggling to rebuild their lives from scratch after their daily necessities and property were destroyed in the blaze.
In response to this tragedy, Malaysia’s ultra affordable home and living retailer Eco-Shop has stepped forward with more than RM36,000 in emergency assistance. The contribution aims to support affected families by providing immediate relief during this difficult period.

The assistance was delivered through a combination of financial support and cash vouchers to help families purchase essential items. This initiative is intended to ease urgent burdens as the community begins its recovery journey.
Patrick Teoh, General Manager for Eco-Shop’s East Coast Malaysia region, said the company hopes the contribution will offer some relief to those impacted. He added that community strength is built through mutual support, especially during times of hardship, and that Eco-Shop remains committed to standing with affected families even if it cannot undo the losses they have suffered.
The handover ceremony was held at Masjid Al Ikhsan, where Alias Bin Mamat, Head of the Kampung Gok Kapur Rukun Tetangga, received a replica cheque on behalf of the recipients. Following this, Eco-Shop representatives distributed cash vouchers directly to the affected families present at the event.
Eco-Shop reaffirmed its commitment to supporting communities beyond its business operations by continuing to assist those in need. The company aims to contribute towards building stronger and more resilient communities across Malaysia through ongoing outreach and aid efforts.
