Huawei Malaysia has entered into a groundbreaking collaboration with Skyvast Cloud Sdn Bhd (Skyvast) to introduce the first Sovereign AI Cloud infrastructure outside of China. This milestone, formalized under a newly signed MoU, sets a strong precedent for Malaysia as a pioneer in secure and high-performance AI computing within the ASEAN region.
The infrastructure will be powered by Huawei’s renowned Ascend Graphic Processing Units (GPUs) and Kunpeng servers, forming a resilient backbone for AI-driven services. The cloud solution will also feature advanced networking and storage solutions, ensuring both scalability and security. Skyvast will spearhead business development, identify key application use cases, and drive go-to-market strategies for the platform across Malaysia and the greater ASEAN region.
“The Sovereign AI Cloud initiative addresses two major concerns: performance and data sovereignty,” said a Skyvast representative. “With Huawei’s support, we are enabling Malaysian businesses and government agencies to access world-class AI computing without compromising on data control and compliance.”
This initiative reflects Malaysia’s ambition to become a digital and AI hub in Southeast Asia. As part of the national strategy led by the NAIO, the Sovereign AI Cloud will serve as a critical enabler for both public and private sector digital transformation, including sectors like healthcare, finance, and education.
Witnessed by top officials and industry leaders, the MoU between Skyvast and Huawei not only emphasizes technological advancement but also reaffirms Malaysia’s position as a forward-thinking digital economy.
