Yayasan MR D.I.Y. is closing 2025 with strong momentum after delivering a year of wide-reaching community initiatives across Malaysia and beyond. Throughout the year, the Foundation channelled close to RM1.5 million into 250 programmes, reaching more than 300,000 beneficiaries and reinforcing its role as one of the country’s most active community-driven organisations.
Built on the trust and familiarity MR D.I.Y. Malaysia has cultivated over more than two decades through its network of over 1,400 stores nationwide, Yayasan MR D.I.Y. continues to translate the brand’s close relationship with Malaysians into people-first initiatives that deliver practical and measurable outcomes. This connection allows the Foundation to identify real needs and respond with programmes that create lasting impact.
One of the key highlights of 2025 was the continued expansion of the flagship STEM Discovery on Wheels programme, which has now engaged more than 200,000 children nationwide. Recognised as one of Malaysia’s largest privately driven STEM outreach efforts, the programme partners with the Perlis State Education Department, District Education Departments, the Museum Department and the National Science Centre to bring hands-on STEM learning directly to underserved schools and communities. By making science, technology, engineering and mathematics accessible at an early stage, the initiative helps spark curiosity and interest among young learners who may otherwise lack exposure to these fields.
Beyond Malaysia, Yayasan MR D.I.Y. strengthened its humanitarian outreach on the global stage. In collaboration with the final Malaysian Battalion under the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, MALBATT 850-13, the Foundation distributed 9,600 STEM kits to children across 48 districts in Lebanon. The initiative supported education continuity in communities affected by conflict and stands as one of the Foundation’s most significant international contributions to date.
At home, the Foundation continued to respond with compassion and speed to pressing needs. In a gesture of solidarity, the senior management of MR D.I.Y. pooled their RM100 SARA allocations to purchase essential MyKasih items, which were donated to Home of Hope, a transit home operated by the National Cancer Society Malaysia in Chow Kit. The initiative reflected a culture of empathy within the organisation and reinforced the belief that meaningful social responsibility begins with personal commitment.
Yayasan MR D.I.Y. also provided timely assistance to communities affected by hardship and natural disasters. The Foundation delivered essential items to flood victims in Jeli, Taiping and parts of East Malaysia, donated 100 new chairs to Hospital Duchess of Kent in Sandakan, and supported 100 families impacted by severe flooding in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. These efforts demonstrated the Foundation’s ability to mobilise quickly in times of need.
As the year draws to a close, Yayasan MR D.I.Y. is rolling out its annual Christmas CSR programme, including a special visit to the School in Hospital at Rehabilitation Hospital Cheras. The initiative aims to bring joy and encouragement to more than 50 paediatric patients through gift-giving, interactive activities and festive engagement, ensuring that children undergoing treatment continue to feel supported and remembered.
According to Zaleha Mohd Mydin, Chief Executive Officer of Yayasan MR D.I.Y., the Foundation’s strength lies in the trust and close relationships MR D.I.Y. has built with Malaysians over the years. This connection enables the organisation to better understand community needs, respond swiftly and deliver initiatives that create real and measurable impact, both locally and internationally.
With its extensive national presence, strong brand foundation and growing portfolio across education, community development and humanitarian support, Yayasan MR D.I.Y. continues to set a benchmark for people-centred corporate social responsibility in Malaysia.
