Malaysia is set to strengthen its position as a regional leader in sustainable energy when the International Sustainable Energy Summit (ISES) 2026 returns on 11 and 12 August at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. Organised by the Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) Malaysia and hosted by the Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA), this year’s summit carries the theme “Envisioning Sustainable Energy Beyond Borders”, reflecting the growing need for stronger international cooperation in advancing clean energy solutions.
As one of Southeast Asia’s leading sustainable energy platforms, ISES 2026 is expected to gather policymakers, industry leaders, investors, financial institutions, technology providers, researchers, multilateral organisations and energy professionals from around the world. The summit will serve as a strategic meeting point for exchanging ideas, exploring investment opportunities and accelerating the transition towards a more sustainable and resilient energy future.

The summit is scheduled to be officiated by Deputy Prime Minister YAB Datuk Amar Haji Fadillah bin Haji Yusof, highlighting the increasing national importance of sustainable energy as Malaysia continues to pursue its energy transition agenda. His participation reflects the government’s commitment to driving innovation, strengthening policy frameworks and encouraging greater collaboration across public and private sectors.
Beyond Malaysia, ISES 2026 is also expected to expand its regional influence through collaborations with international media platforms that will help elevate discussions on sustainable energy across Southeast Asia and beyond. The initiative recognises that climate action, energy security and technological innovation are global challenges that require coordinated efforts and stronger partnerships across borders.
Chief Executive Officer of SEDA Malaysia and Organising Chair of ISES 2026, YBhg. Dato’ Hamzah bin Hussin, said the summit aims to deliver more than meaningful discussions by creating tangible opportunities for collaboration and investment.

“With this year’s theme, Envisioning Sustainable Energy Beyond Borders, our aspiration extends beyond hosting a summit. We want to create a platform where ideas become collaborations, collaborations become investments, and investments contribute towards sustainable growth and long-term impact for the region,” he said.
He added that energy transition is no longer an issue that can be addressed by individual countries alone, as climate change, energy security, sustainability and technological advancement increasingly require collective regional and global action.
ISES has continued to grow into one of the region’s most recognised platforms for sustainable energy dialogue and industry engagement. The previous edition welcomed participants from 24 countries, attracted support from 52 embassies and recorded more than 5,800 registered participants. The event also generated media value exceeding RM10 million, demonstrating the growing international attention towards Malaysia’s sustainable energy ambitions.

This year’s summit is expected to attract senior government officials, policymakers, international stakeholders, financial institutions, investors and energy experts, creating valuable opportunities for networking, partnerships and knowledge sharing. As nations continue working towards a lower-carbon economy, ISES 2026 aims to inspire actionable solutions that will accelerate sustainable development while strengthening regional cooperation.
Registration for delegates and partnership opportunities for ISES 2026 are now open, inviting organisations and industry players to be part of one of the region’s most influential sustainable energy events dedicated to shaping the future of clean energy.
