World’s First Certified Stingless Bee Honey Launched in Malaysia

For centuries, honey has been recognised as one of nature’s most treasured foods. However, despite growing global interest in Stingless Bee Honey, the industry has struggled with the absence of a universally recognised definition, quality standard, and international certification framework. This has limited industry growth, affected consumer confidence, and created barriers to international trade.

To address these challenges, Stingless Bee Factor Pte. Ltd. (SBF) hosted The Future of Honey 2026 – Premiere Launch of Certified Stingless Bee Honey at Courtyard by Marriott Kuala Lumpur South. The event marked the official unveiling of the world’s first international certification framework for Stingless Bee Honey, alongside the presentation of groundbreaking scientific research that represents a major milestone for the global industry.

The event served as more than a product launch. It brought together experts in scientific research, agriculture, health technology, and industry development, positioning Stingless Bee Honey as a premium functional honey supported by internationally recognised quality standards and scientific validation.

One of the event’s major highlights was the presentation of scientific research validating the health benefits of Stingless Bee Honey. Researchers from the Glycaemic Index Research Unit (GIRU) at Temasek Polytechnic, Singapore, confirmed that SBH Certified Stingless Bee Honey has a Low Glycaemic Index (Low GI). This makes it one of the first Stingless Bee Honey products in the world to receive scientific validation for its Low GI properties, offering consumers a healthier option for blood sugar management.

Further research conducted by the School of Applied Science at Temasek Polytechnic also demonstrated the honey’s natural antibacterial and antioxidant properties. These findings strengthen the credibility of Stingless Bee Honey and highlight its future potential in functional foods, nutraceuticals, healthcare, nutrition, and wellness applications.

As consumers increasingly seek scientifically validated natural products, the honey industry is evolving beyond traditional food uses and entering the rapidly expanding nutraceutical market.

With more than 19 years of beekeeping experience, Javier Lau, Founder of Stingless Bee Factor Pte. Ltd., has dedicated the past decade to working alongside international scientists and research institutions to establish globally recognised quality standards for Stingless Bee Honey. His vision is to transform this unique tropical natural resource into a premium product trusted by consumers worldwide.

Looking ahead, Stingless Bee Honey has the potential to play a greater role in health management, nutritional supplementation, post-operative recovery, and other healthcare applications, creating exciting opportunities within the global wellness industry.

Malaysia is well positioned to become a global leader in the Stingless Bee Honey industry thanks to its rich tropical rainforest biodiversity, diverse stingless bee species, and established beekeeping ecosystem. The introduction of an international certification framework is expected to strengthen consumer confidence, improve market transparency, and create new opportunities across agriculture, scientific research, exports, and the health and wellness sectors.

Hosting the global premiere of The Future of Honey 2026 in Malaysia also reinforces the country’s strategic role as a future international hub for Stingless Bee Honey production and innovation.

Beyond commercial development, Stingless Bee Factor is also committed to creating positive social impact through the BeeAble Project. The company has partnered with GroupHome, a community-based vocational training centre in Bentong, Pahang, to provide practical stingless bee farming skills for young people with special needs.

The BeeAble Project offers participants accessible livelihood opportunities through beekeeping, supported by comprehensive training, technical guidance, and ongoing assistance from Stingless Bee Factor. The company also manages the processing, packaging, and marketing of the honey, enabling participants to earn sustainable income while developing valuable vocational skills.

During the launch, GroupHome Founder Dr Andrew Tan shared the encouraging results and community impact achieved through the BeeAble Project.

Javier Lau also announced that Stingless Bee Factor will co-produce the anti-scam film Rescue Mission together with History Maker. The film is currently in production and is expected to be released later this year as part of the company’s broader commitment to social responsibility.

Guests also explored the SBH Experience Hall, an interactive exhibition that introduced visitors to the unique world of Stingless Bee Honey through educational displays and immersive experiences.

The event featured presentations by leading international scientists and industry experts, including Dr Adrian Charlton from FERA Science Ltd. (UK), Dr Kalpana Bhaskaran from Temasek Polytechnic’s Glycaemic Index Research Unit, Dr Li Huan from the Centre for Complementary Health Products, Ms Yuan Ting from Temasek Polytechnic, and Javier Lau, who shared his vision for building the future of the global Stingless Bee Honey industry.

Witnessed by nearly 700 guests, Stingless Bee Factor officially unveiled the world’s first SBH Certified Stingless Bee Honey. The product carries three important recognitions: FERA Certification, Low GI Scientific Validation, and SBF Standards.

Presented in distinctive amber-coloured packaging, the certified honey represents a new generation of premium Stingless Bee Honey supported by scientific research, international quality standards, and a strong commitment to global health and wellness.
