Flood-affected communities across the northern states received much-needed assistance over the weekend as thousands of relief bags were distributed to families impacted by the recent disaster in Perlis, Kedah, Penang and Perak. The two-day effort, carried out on 5 and 6 December, formed part of a coordinated mission under the Ai-CARE initiative led by Ai-CHA, the fast-growing beverage brand from Indonesia, through its Malaysia team.
More than 6,000 relief bags valued at over RM100,000 were distributed across 12 locations, including schools, welfare homes, mosques and community centres. Among the distribution points were SK Kampung Bahagia, SK Sultan Abdul Aziz, Rumah Anak Yatim Amal Solehah Pendang, Masjid Zahir, Masjid Al-Bukhari, Rumah Teduh Perlis, Superkids Care Centre and several other local community institutions. Each relief bag contained essential items such as instant ramen, Ai-CHA tea bags and vouchers to help ease the immediate burden faced by affected families.
In addition to supporting communities, the initiative also extended aid to businesses impacted by the floods. At least five Ai-CHA outlets in the northern region sustained varying degrees of damage, prompting the brand’s head office to step in with targeted support. More than RM13,000 worth of essential supplies were provided to all 92 northern outlets, while RM15,000 in cash vouchers were allocated to the five flood-affected outlets to assist franchisees in restocking and resuming operations. The support package also included RM5,000 in logistical assistance and RM10,000 set aside for Ai-CHA staff members affected during the floods.
To further support recovery efforts, Ai-CHA will be running a special in-store promotion from 15 to 21 December 2025 at its northern outlets. During this period, customers can enjoy Passion Fruit and Hawaiian Nut beverages priced at RM3 per cup. To ensure franchisees are not financially burdened by the promotion, all 92 northern outlets will receive free Passion Fruit Jam worth more than RM13,000, supplied by Ai-CHA Malaysia headquarters. This initiative allows outlets to continue offering affordable prices while maintaining business sustainability during the post-flood recovery phase.
All logistics for the CSR mission were managed internally by Ai-CHA, with 15 volunteers coordinating the distribution and reaching affected families across multiple districts. The operation was jointly led by Group Regional General Manager Vincent Ong Wei Ho and Country Manager for West Malaysia and Singapore, Low Hon Yau, both of whom were present throughout the mission.
Reflecting on the effort, Ong shared that the initiative was rooted in the organisation’s belief in giving back to the communities that support it. He noted that when communities are in distress, the company feels a responsibility to step forward rather than remain passive. He added that the people in the northern states have long supported Ai-CHA outlets, and through this mission, the brand wanted to reaffirm its commitment to standing by them during difficult times.
Founded in 2019 by the Lie brothers in Indonesia, Ai-CHA has expanded rapidly and now operates in 31 countries across Asia and Africa. Since opening its first outlet in Malaysia in 2024, the brand has grown to more than 600 outlets nationwide. Alongside its focus on delivering accessible beverages and positive customer experiences, Ai-CHA continues to prioritise community support through initiatives such as Ai-CARE, which has assisted more than 50,000 people nationwide and remains active in responding to community needs.
