Tourism Malaysia Shines with Major Wins at Arabian Travel Awards 2025

Tourism Malaysia has been honoured with two major recognitions at the 8th Arabian Travel Awards, earning the titles of Best National Tourism Organisation (NTO) Southeast Asia and Best Destination Marketing Initiatives. The ceremony, hosted at Embassy Suites by Hilton Dubai Business Bay, gathered over 100 prominent representatives from the Middle East’s travel, hospitality and media sectors.

These awards reaffirm Malaysia’s growing presence as a preferred destination for Middle Eastern travellers and highlight Tourism Malaysia’s continued commitment to impactful promotional efforts ahead of Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026). Mr. Mohd Faharuddin Hatmin, Director of Tourism Malaysia in Dubai, accepted the awards on behalf of the organisation.

Datuk Manoharan Periasamy, Director General of Tourism Malaysia, expressed his appreciation by stating that the recognition reflects Tourism Malaysia’s dedication to showcasing the country’s diverse attractions. He added that moving towards VM2026, efforts will be intensified through expanded market engagement, strengthened partnerships and improved air connectivity to support sustainable tourism growth.

Malaysia recorded 28.2 million international visitor arrivals between January and August 2025, marking a 14.5 per cent increase from the same period last year. This growth highlights Malaysia’s strong appeal, from bustling urban destinations and serene island escapes to cultural heritage experiences and varied gastronomy.

As the nation prepares for Visit Malaysia 2026 with a target of welcoming 47 million international visitors, enhancements in air accessibility continue to play a crucial role. Among upcoming developments is Batik Air’s daily flight route from Dubai to Kuala Lumpur starting 1 January 2026, adding to existing routes offered by Emirates, Etihad, Flydubai, Air Arabia and other carriers.
