French-Indian pop artist Salomé Das has officially entered a bold new era with the release of her highly anticipated debut solo single, “Back 2 Malaysia.” Distributed by Def Jam Malaysia, the track arrives as a vibrant global pop anthem and a deeply personal tribute to the place that shaped her identity.
Born in Munich and raised in Kuala Lumpur from the tender age of three months, Salomé is the quintessential “third-culture child.” Growing up, she absorbed French, Indian, and Malaysian cultures simultaneously. Never entirely claimed by a single heritage, she instead chose to carry all three worlds with her everywhere she goes, using her debut single as the ultimate musical crossroads where they finally come together.
“Back 2 Malaysia” masterfully blends traditional Malaysian and Asian instrumentation with infectious, modern global pop production. The track pulses with the carefree warmth of a tropical childhood, vividly capturing memories of the food, the sea, the rich colours, and the pure sense of freedom she experienced growing up in Malaysia. It delivers a narrative that is both deeply personal and universally felt: the story of leaving a place, carrying its essence with you always, and understanding that home is not just a geographic location, but a core part of who you are.

“No matter where I go in the world, I carry Malaysia with me,” Salomé shares. “Through the food, the culture, the warmth, the nature, and the carefree spirit of sun and freedom that I constantly seek out. For me, Malaysia has always felt like joy, colour, nostalgia and home. This song captures that feeling—of freedom, sunshine and coming home. The place that stays with us forever.”
Salomé’s journey to this solo debut has been a dynamic, winding road. A former Elite model, she spent five years living under the grey skies of London, far from the tropical warmth of her childhood home. She first introduced her striking vocals to the international music community as the featured artist on the hit track “Life is Simple,” which went on to surpass a staggering 90 million streams on Spotify and landed her on a massive stadium stage in Mumbai, performing in front of 8,000 fans.
Following that breakthrough, Salomé spent two years searching for the right collaborators, the perfect sonic landscape, and a definitive creative vision. That search culminated in “Back 2 Malaysia.” Recorded in Los Angeles in 2026, the track felt like a true homecoming from the very first note.

Beyond her infectious sound, Salomé’s visual identity is just as distinctive and intentional as her music. She proudly embraces her roots on stage, pairing her signature bindi with Indian jewellery, traditional batik, and sarongs. As a tropical, 21st-century artist with a commanding presence, she has step-by-step become an ambassador for global youth and a passionate advocate for Asian representation in the international music scene. Her ultimate mission is as clear as it is ambitious: to become the first Indian global pop star, and to actively pull other rising Asian artists up into the spotlight with her.
“Back 2 Malaysia” is out now and available for streaming on all major digital platforms.
