Mastercard is helping financial institutions, payment partners, merchants, policymakers and industry stakeholders across Asia Pacific prepare for the future of payments by showcasing the technologies and innovations that will shape the payment ecosystem of 2030.
As commerce becomes increasingly connected, intelligent and identity-led, the payments industry is focusing on building an ecosystem that is trusted, interoperable, data-driven, secure and convenient. With AI agents beginning to influence how consumers discover products, make purchasing decisions and complete transactions, the industry is also working to ensure these emerging commerce experiences remain secure, consumer-controlled and ready to scale.
Located at the Mastercard Experience Center in Singapore, the company’s flagship innovation hub for Asia Pacific, Mastercard brings this future to life through interactive demonstrations and co-creation sessions involving financial institutions, fintech companies, merchants and strategic partners.
The Singapore facility is one of seven Mastercard Experience Centers worldwide and is designed to provide industry stakeholders with hands-on exposure to emerging payment technologies and innovations.
Visitors to the center can experience the latest edition of Mastercard’s award-winning Innovation Circuit, an immersive workshop that is now in its fourth edition. This year’s theme, “Next Lap in Payments”, explores how agentic commerce, trusted digital identity, tokenization, interoperability and AI-driven network intelligence are coming together to enable a new generation of secure, seamless and convenient commerce experiences.
Inspired by Mastercard’s sponsorship of the McLaren Mastercard Formula 1 Team, the motor racing-themed experience translates the speed, precision and agility of Formula 1 into practical insights on what is required to power the future of digital payments.
Executive Vice President, Services, Asia Pacific, Mastercard, Matthew Driver, said organisations need to understand how emerging technologies can deliver trusted, scalable and commercially viable commerce experiences as consumer behaviour continues to evolve.
He said the Mastercard Experience Center enables partners to connect innovations across identity, tokenization, fraud prevention and payments while exploring how these capabilities can support customer experience, operational efficiency and business growth.
The Innovation Circuit is structured around three interactive pitstops, each representing a different layer of the future payments ecosystem, namely trust, experience and intelligence.
The first experience, Igniting Innovation, focuses on trust and digital identity by demonstrating biometric onboarding, tokenized credential-sharing and consent-driven identity models that allow consumers to authorise AI agents to perform transactions while maintaining full visibility and control over their personal data.
The second experience, Shifting Gears, showcases how AI-powered shopping and concierge agents can assist consumers throughout their purchasing journey, from buying event tickets and recommending merchandise to providing location-aware alerts and completing secure payments across multiple merchants.
The final experience, Powering Growth, highlights the role of AI, tokenization and network intelligence in transaction processing by demonstrating how payment data can be used to detect fraud, improve payment approvals and generate actionable business insights while maintaining privacy and security.
Mastercard also announced plans to establish new Innovation Centers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Tokyo, Japan later this year. These centers will bring Mastercard’s innovation capabilities closer to customers and partners across the region through immersive storytelling, collaborative testing environments and locally tailored payment innovation experiences.
The company also plans to introduce additional Innovation Centers across Asia Pacific as it continues supporting the development of the region’s digital payments ecosystem.
