KUALA LUMPUR, 12 MARCH 2026 – Johor has been officially named Malaysia’s Favourite Destination for the upcoming MATTA Fair April 2026, marking a significant milestone for the state’s tourism sector. The recognition was announced by the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents, reinforcing Johor’s growing prominence on both the domestic and international travel map. The highly anticipated fair will take place from 3 to 5 April 2026 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), Kuala Lumpur.

This year’s edition of MATTA Fair is set to be its largest yet, spanning an impressive 40,820 square metres across 10 halls. A total of 2,043 booths have been secured, with participation from 330 organisations representing various segments of the travel ecosystem. These include 210 tour and travel agencies, six National Tourism Organisations, 11 State Tourism Organisations, 63 hotels and resorts, an airline, 11 theme parks and 28 other travel-related service providers. The scale of participation reflects a strong, unified commitment within the industry to drive tourism growth and recovery.

Johor’s selection as the featured destination is both timely and strategic. Known as the Jewel of the South, the state continues to attract attention for its diverse offerings, ranging from cultural heritage and nature-based experiences to modern attractions and leisure destinations. Its proximity to Singapore further enhances its appeal, making it a convenient and accessible gateway for international visitors. With strong visitor numbers recorded in recent years, Johor is well-positioned to capitalise on this spotlight at MATTA Fair to further elevate its tourism profile and inspire more travellers to explore its unique offerings.
