BYD Sime Motors, the official distributor of BYD cars in Malaysia, proudly celebrates its third anniversary as the nation’s leading EV brand, with more than 25,000 BYD cars now on Malaysian roads. These vehicles represent more than just cars — they symbolize over 25,000 Malaysian families contributing to environmental sustainability nationwide. Collectively, BYD owners help reduce over 62,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually, equivalent to planting nearly 2.5 million trees each year, enough to circle Malaysia’s coastline more than six times. This achievement highlights the significant environmental impact of BYD’s presence in the country.
BYD Sime Motors now offers Malaysia’s largest fully electric vehicle portfolio, with seven models launched to date. Leading the lineup is the BYD ATTO 3, a strong performer in the competitive C-segment SUV category. In 2025, the range expanded with the introduction of the BYD ATTO 2 and BYD SEAL 6, along with an updated BYD SEAL. From entry-level to premium, covering sedans, SUVs and MPVs, BYD continues to meet the evolving needs of Malaysian drivers with vehicles that integrate advanced technology, safety and affordability.
Eagle Zhao, Managing Director of BYD Malaysia, shared that welcoming more than 25,000 Malaysians into the BYD family marks a meaningful milestone. He stated that the rapid growth reflects the accelerating shift toward EV adoption in the country. He added that BYD’s commitment to delivering a greener, smarter and safer driving experience remains central to its mission. Jeffrey Gan, Managing Director of Southeast Asia at Sime Motors, noted that in just three years, BYD has become a key pillar in Sime Motors’ automotive portfolio. With a strong sales and aftersales network, advanced facilities and skilled EV talent, BYD has helped make electric mobility more accessible for Malaysians.
BYD Sime Motors’ nationwide infrastructure has played a crucial role in supporting its growing customer base. The network includes 39 sales and marketing outlets, 24 aftersales service centres, 12 authorised body and paint centres and a centralised parts warehouse carrying more than 4,600 line items with a 94% fill rate. Over 1,000 local employees are trained at BYD’s dedicated Training Centre to maintain high technical and service standards. Looking ahead, BYD and Sime Motors reaffirm their commitment to shaping Malaysia’s EV future. The 2026 roadmap includes further network expansion, advanced technology integration and the establishment of local assembly (CKD) operations to create sustainable value and employment.
With full tax exemptions for fully imported EVs ending soon, now is an ideal time for Malaysians to make the switch to electric.
