Atlas Copco Group has officially inaugurated its new 120,000-square-foot integrated headquarters in Alam Impian, Shah Alam, marking a major expansion of its footprint in Malaysia and Southeast Asia. The eight-figure investment underscores the group’s deep-rooted commitment to the Malaysian market, where it has maintained a presence since 1982. Strategically positioned within Selangor’s premier manufacturing corridor, the new three-acre facility functions as a central regional hub, streamlining operations and coordination across key branches in Kuantan, Penang, and Johor. This integrated site not only supports core business functions but also houses a regional shared finance services center that serves multiple markets across the Atlas Copco network.

The expansion is a clear indicator of the group’s significant growth, evolving from a small team of 10 employees in the early 1980s to a robust workforce of over 250 today. Khalid Shaikh, General Manager of the Compressor Technique Business Area for Atlas Copco Malaysia and Singapore, highlighted that the facility is designed to enhance customer service through faster coordination and more efficient delivery. He also emphasized the company’s dedication to developing local expertise and building long-term technical capabilities. This sentiment was echoed by Encik Sherulanuar Abd. Karim, MIDA Selangor Director, who noted that Malaysia remains a preferred destination for high-quality industrial investments and regional operations.
The inauguration also celebrated the strong bilateral ties between Sweden and Malaysia, with H.E. Mr. Niklas Wiberg, Ambassador of Sweden to Malaysia, in attendance. Ambassador Wiberg praised Atlas Copco as a leader in innovation and sustainability, noting the company’s long-standing role in the Malaysian industrial landscape. The choice of Alam Impian for the new hub was deliberate, offering proximity to Port Klang and major highways, as well as upcoming connectivity via the LRT3 line. These logistical advantages are expected to significantly improve service delivery while making the headquarters highly accessible to partners and the talent pool within the Klang Valley.

Looking ahead, the new facility is set to become a catalyst for talent growth and employment. Currently employing 273 staff, Atlas Copco Group plans to add between 80 and 100 new roles over the next five years, primarily within sales, marketing, and service departments. This growth strategy aligns with Malaysia’s New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030), which encourages higher-value industrial activities and the strengthening of the nation’s technical services ecosystem. Furthermore, the facility incorporates ESG-focused features to promote energy efficiency, reflecting the group’s commitment to sustainable operations and a collaborative, modern work environment for its expanding team.
