Malaysia Set to Welcome Southeast Asia’s Top ICT Experts for BICSI SEA 2026

Malaysia has officially reinforced its standing as a premier regional digital infrastructure hub with the soft launch of the second BICSI Southeast Asia Malaysia Conference & Exhibition 2026. Officiated by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Human Resources, Datuk Azman Mohd Yusof, the event follows the success of its 2025 inaugural edition and a recent installment in Vietnam. Scheduled for July 21 and 22 at Sunway Resort Hotel, the upcoming conference will focus on advancing information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure excellence within an increasingly artificial intelligence (AI)-driven landscape.

BICSI Southeast Asia Executive Chair Dr. Garies Chong emphasized their commitment to elevating industry standards and nurturing a skilled talent pool to build a resilient, future-ready ICT ecosystem.

During the launch, Datuk Azman emphasized that strengthening the nation’s talent pipeline is a critical priority as Malaysia’s digital economy continues its rapid expansion. Current data from the Department of Statistics Malaysia reveals that the ICT sector contributes RM451.3 billion, or 23.4 percent, to the national economy and employs over 1.25 million people. With more than RM342 billion in digital investments approved between 2022 and 2025, the sector is expected to generate over 114,000 new knowledge-based roles. This surge in investment underscores a heightened demand for skilled professionals in specialized fields such as data centers, network infrastructure, and AI. Datuk Azman noted that building a future-ready workforce requires equipping Malaysians with the precise skills and global certifications necessary to navigate a complex digital environment.

Organized by Tecnoviq Learning Academy (TECLA)—an affiliate of BICSI Southeast Asia and part of the global authority in ICT standards—the conference serves as a bridge between local talent and international benchmarks. Datuk Azman highlighted that the involvement of international bodies like BICSI supports the Dasar TVET Negara 2030 by promoting industry-driven training and continuous upskilling. By adopting internationally recognized certifications, Malaysia aims to strengthen industry standards and ensure a consistent, high-quality talent pool that evolves alongside technological needs. Effective collaboration between industry players, training institutions, and policymakers remains essential to addressing skills mismatches and supporting workforce mobility.

Dr. Garies Chong, Executive Chair of BICSI Southeast Asia, echoed these sentiments, affirming the organization’s commitment to elevating industry standards and fostering regional collaboration to build a resilient ICT ecosystem. The July conference is expected to draw a diverse group of policymakers, industry leaders, and educators from across the region. The soft launch featured prominent stakeholders and government agencies, including the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), Malaysian Technology Development Corporation (MTDC), Invest Selangor, and Cyberview. Supported by organizations such as PIKOM and international corporate sponsors including Softing AG, SENKO Advanced Components, and Datwyler AG, the event provides a strategic platform for industry engagement. The organizers continue to welcome corporate sponsorships to further showcase technological capabilities and connect with key stakeholders through the BICSI Southeast Asia network.
