The World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH) Congress will be making its way to Malaysia in 2026 after its 2020 postponement due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Scheduled to be held in the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, WFH is expected to attract 4,500 delegates from over 130 countries.
“It is official, we have just received the baton at the Handover Ceremony with our partner, the Hemophilia Society of Malaysia (HSM) at the WFH World Congress 2024 in Madrid, Spain. The Malaysia team is honoured and excited to finally welcome WFH to our shores as we are committed to providing an exceptional experience for all delegates and showcasing Malaysia & unique culture and hospitality. This event will not only foster global collaboration in haemophilia care but also highlight Malaysia & capabilities as a premier destination for international conferences,” said Mr. Azman Haji Tambi Chik, Chief Executive Officer of MyCEB.
Mr. Azman continued to note that the postponement was an unfortunate delay but was
necessary. “The safety of people is a priority. However, the postponement also reinforced the
importance of organising and hosting health-focused events as they are crucial in gathering
world experts for breakthrough discovery and innovative solutions”.
WFH is a unique medical congress as it will be a convening platform for not just medical experts, researchers, scientists, and regulators but also patients as part of knowledge contribution. WFH 2026 will yield an estimated economic impact of RM112 million, with RM47.9 million attributed to visitor expenditure in Malaysia, bringing significant benefits to local healthcare sectors. This confidence comes after WFH’s 2024 success in Spain as the Congress was attended by over 3,000 delegates from 135 countries.
