Cheetah Holdings Berhad enters the luxury clothes market and is optimistic about the future of Malaysia’s fashion retail sector.

Cheetah Exclusive, the first exclusive collection for men and women created by renowned designer Dato’ Jovian Mandagie, was unveiled by Cheetah Holdings Berhad, a clothing retailer in Malaysia.

The company, which is known primarily for its flagship Cheetah brand across Malaysia, is entering the upscale clothing industry, bolstered by its confidence that the Malaysia fashion retail market will continue to grow in 2023 and beyond.

The new collection incorporates the classic denim with the timeless Paisley print. The iconic pattern Is characterized by curved teardrop shapes known as boteh, the Persian word for flower. The paisley print has since travelled from Persia to India and across the world from East to West.

As such, Cheetah Exclusive marries the trademark Jovian Mandagie fashion sensibilities with Cheetah Holdings Berhad’s core value of innovation, enhancing lifestyle with high quality products and services through creative ideas with continuous product improvement in R&D.

In July 2022, research by Fitch Solutions found that clothing and footwear spending is the fastest-growing essential category, on the back of strong wider retail recovery in Malaysia. This provides a window for fashion retailers to capatilise on the growing momentum of recreation spending in Malaysia and to cater to comsumers, who also have the appetite and capacity for greater fashion spending.

During the launch of its Cheetah Exclusive collection at its newly redesigned Cheetah Flagship Store in 1Utama Shopping Centre also hosted a first-of-its-kind 3D immersive art experience which will be open to the public for free on the 7th October- 16th October 2022.

The Cheetah Exclusive launch at the 1Utama Cheetah Flagship Store was enhanced with jewellery designed by Raffles College of Higher Education students especially for the collection; scent and ambience provided by artisanal handmade and hand poured candle maker Oh Lilin, and refreshment vouchers courtesy of ZUS Coffee.

The company has ventured into exclusive clothing collections as a move to try to offset general increase in raw materials by having more higher margin items to cater for the urban market. E-commerce and concept stores will be the channel for the exclusive lines with the company targeting to open another 2 more outlets in strategic locations within the financial year.
