Sime Darby Auto ConneXion-Ford (Auto ConneXion-Ford), the sole distributor of Ford vehicles in Malaysia, has officially expanded its award-winning Ranger lineup with the introduction of the new Ranger Platinum, Ranger Sport and Ranger XL. The launch marks another milestone for the brand, with more than 24,000 Next-Generation Ford Rangers now on Malaysian roads since the model was introduced in 2022, reinforcing its position as one of the country’s most popular pickup trucks.

The expanded lineup reflects Ford’s commitment to meeting the evolving needs of Malaysian customers, as pickup trucks continue to grow beyond their traditional role as workhorses to become versatile vehicles for daily commuting, family adventures and outdoor lifestyles. With multiple variants catering to different lifestyles and business requirements, Ford aims to strengthen the Ranger’s reputation as one of the market’s leading pickup trucks.

Globally, the Ford Ranger continues to enjoy remarkable success. Over the past two decades, approximately 5.1 million units have been sold across more than 180 markets. The Ranger has also earned numerous international accolades, including the 2025 North American Truck of the Year award, while remaining the best-selling vehicle in Australia and New Zealand and the top-selling pickup truck in Vietnam and Europe for more than a decade.

In Malaysia, the Next-Generation Ford Ranger has also received widespread recognition. The Ranger Platinum 2.0L Bi-Turbo Diesel won both the Consumer Choice Award and Overall Truck of the Year at the MARii Car of the Year (COTY) Awards 2024. The momentum continued in 2025 when the Ford Ranger WildTrak 3.0 V6 was named Overall Pickup Truck of the Year, further strengthening the Ranger’s standing in the local market.

According to Auto ConneXion Managing Director Turse Zuhair, the growing Ranger family is designed to deliver the ideal balance of durability, advanced technology and premium comfort. Guided by Ford’s “Ready, Set, Ford” philosophy, the expanded lineup empowers customers to tackle business, family life and outdoor adventures with confidence.

The new Ranger range consists of three distinct models tailored to different customer needs. The Ranger XL serves as a dependable work-focused pickup for businesses and fleet operators, while the Ranger Sport is designed as a versatile lifestyle pickup suitable for everyday driving and weekend adventures. Sitting at the top of the range, the Ranger Platinum offers a premium ownership experience without compromising the renowned capability of the Ranger.

Across the lineup, the Ranger offers up to 1,000kg payload capacity, 3,500kg towing capability and an impressive 800mm water wading depth. Advanced features such as Common Rail Direct Injection, a 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission, Electronic Shift-On-The-Fly (ESOF) and Electromagnetic Transfer Case (EMTC) provide enhanced performance and control across various terrains. Inside the cabin, customers can enjoy premium features including a 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Wireless Android Auto, Bluetooth connectivity, voice recognition, dual-zone climate control and multiple USB charging ports.

Leading the lineup is the Ranger Platinum, powered by Ford’s most powerful diesel engine available in Malaysia. Its 3.0-litre V6 Turbo Diesel engine produces 250PS and 600Nm of torque, paired with a responsive 10-speed automatic transmission. The premium pickup also features a distinctive Platinum grille, 20-inch alloy wheels, an exclusive Acacia Green exterior colour, heated and ventilated leather seats, Platinum interior detailing and an eight-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system.

The Ranger Sport is available with either a 3.0-litre V6 Turbo Diesel or a 2.0-litre Turbo Diesel engine, offering customers the flexibility to choose between performance and practicality. Its bold styling includes a sporty black grille, 18-inch alloy wheels and a modern dual-tone interior with a digital instrument cluster. The 3.0L variant features a full-time four-wheel-drive system, while the 2.0L model comes equipped with a part-time four-wheel-drive system, making it equally capable for city driving and weekend escapes.

Designed primarily for commercial users, the Ranger XL combines proven durability with enhanced safety and practical features. The workhorse pickup includes six airbags, upgraded safety technologies and a functional cargo bed, making it well suited for businesses and fleet operators seeking reliability and efficiency.

To further improve customer support in East Malaysia, Auto ConneXion-Ford has also announced the opening of a new Parts Distribution Hub in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Scheduled to begin operations in phases from 27 July 2026, the facility will improve genuine Ford parts availability throughout Sabah and Sarawak, reducing waiting times and enhancing after-sales service across the region.

The expanded Ranger lineup is now open for bookings at authorised Ford dealerships nationwide. Recommended retail prices for Peninsular Malaysia, excluding insurance, start from RM205,888 for the Ranger Platinum, RM159,888 for the Ranger Sport 3.0L, RM145,888 for the Ranger Sport 2.0L and RM127,888 for the Ranger XL.
