The Heritage Ride Taiping 2026 Draws 2,200 Cyclists to Showcase Town’s Rich Heritage and Scenic Routes

The historic town of Taiping recently came alive with energy and excitement as it successfully hosted the third edition of The Heritage Ride Taiping 2026. Drawing approximately 2,200 participants, the event brought together competitive riders, recreational cyclists and local communities on 25 October 2026. Flagging off from the iconic Dataran Warisan Taiping, cyclists traversed through Sepetang, Simpang Empat and Kamunting, treating themselves to a vibrant mix of rural landscapes and challenging terrains.

Initiated by YB Wong Kah Woh, Member of Parliament for Taiping and co-organised by Kelab Berbasikal Elit and Gosportz Sdn Bhd, the event featured three main categories: the 90km and 65km Competitive Rides and the 17km Fun Ride. Speaking on the event’s success, YB Wong noted that the growing turnout reflects Taiping’s rising appeal as a premier cycling and tourism destination. “Taiping has much to offer, from its rich history and natural surroundings to the warmth of its people. We hope to encourage Malaysians, especially the younger generation, to discover these attractions,” he said.

Adding value to the participant experience, the event partnered with Taiping Zoo to distribute 1,000 complimentary admission tickets, which were fully redeemed. Furthermore, youth engagement remained a core highlight, with students aged 7 to 17 enjoying free registration backed by the Ministry of Education (MOE). The event is also recognised under the MOE’s PAJSK system, allowing eligible students to earn co-curricular assessment points.

Dataran Warisan Taiping buzzed with post-race festivities, featuring local food trucks, exhibitor booths, a lucky draw and cultural performances by SJK(C) Yuk Kwan and Kumpulan Selendang Perak. Supported by the Taiping Municipal Council, Tourism Perak, PDRM and various government agencies. The Heritage Ride Taiping 2026 has firmly cemented its position as a marquee event on Malaysia’s sporting calendar.
