Sarawak hosted an exclusive preview of LEGACY360 – Business Events for a Sustainable Future, Southeast Asia’s first locally developed forum dedicated to advancing the impact of business event legacies.
LEGACY360 aims to spotlight the transformative role of business events in driving economic, social, and environmental progress. As Sarawak positions itself as the legacy capital of business events in Malaysia and Borneo by 2030, the forum serves as a vital platform to propel this vision forward.
The preview, held earlier today, provided a sneak peek of the highly anticipated main forum scheduled for September 2025. Among the highlights was a panel discussion titled “Business Events for a Sustainable Future,” featuring four distinguished speakers who emphasized the importance of embedding legacy practices in the business landscape.
Insights from Distinguished Speakers
- Datu Hii Chang Kee, Deputy State Secretary (Operations) and Deputy Chairman of BESarawak, outlined Sarawak’s strategies to integrate legacy practices into government initiatives.
- Amelia Roziman, CEO of BESarawak, provided an update on the concluding year of the Legacy Impact Master Action Plan 2023–2025.
- Datuk Dr. M Gandhi, President of MACEOS, offered insights into balancing economic growth with social responsibility, drawing from MACEOS’ strategies for Malaysia.
- Jane Vong-Holmes, Senior Manager – Asia at GainingEdge, shared global best practices in legacy building, focusing on talent recruitment and retention as pillars of sustainability.

- AI.LEGACY Intelligent Impact Management System
This groundbreaking system, developed in partnership with Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), leverages artificial intelligence to monitor, measure, and report the legacies of business events. It empowers event planners to create measurable, impactful outcomes, setting a new global standard for legacy management. - Borneo Inspires Legacies Awards (BILA)
Formerly known as the Anak Sarawak Awards, this reimagined awards programme seeks to inspire individuals and organisations worldwide to contribute to meaningful legacies. - Tribe Legacy Sarawak Campaign 2025
The campaign’s new brand promise, “Driving Impact Together,” underscores Sarawak’s commitment to collaborating with event planners. The campaign also introduced the I AM LEGACY movement, celebrating individual contributions to driving change.
Representing the Premier of Sarawak, Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts, stated, “LEGACY360 is pivotal as we work toward making Sarawak the legacy capital of business events in Malaysia and Borneo. We aim to establish it as a globally renowned event.”
Meanwhile, Dato Sri Abang Haji Abdul Karim bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, Chairman of BESarawak, highlighted, “LEGACY360 reflects our dedication to innovation, collaboration, and shaping a sustainable future. It’s about leveraging business event legacies to drive Sarawak’s development.”
The two-day main forum in September 2025 will feature interactive workshops, thought-provoking dialogues, and the Borneo Inspires Legacy Awards to honour exceptional contributions to legacy-building.
As part of today’s event, BESarawak also recognised nine long-serving members who have contributed five to fifteen years to the organisation.
