HONOR Magic9 Pro Max Makes Grand Debut at Venice International Film Festival

HONOR has unveiled the HONOR Magic9 Pro Max for the first time at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival, bringing together smartphone innovation and professional cinematic technology.

The flagship smartphone was showcased as HONOR continues its strategic imaging partnership with ARRI, a renowned name in professional cinema. With more than a century of experience in the film industry, ARRI has played an important role in shaping both traditional film and modern digital cinematography. Its contributions have also been recognised with 20 Scientific and Technical Awards from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

The Magic9 Pro Max stands out with a distinctive moss green finish, while its camera module carries the ARRI logo and draws inspiration from the design language of ARRI’s iconic cinema cameras.

Beyond its design, the collaboration focuses on bringing selected elements of ARRI’s professional imaging science and filmmaking workflow to smartphones. Technologies including ARRI LogC3, ARRI Wide Gamut 3 and ARRI Looks are designed to give creators greater flexibility and control over their footage.

ARRI LogC3 helps preserve highlight and shadow information for post-production, while ARRI Wide Gamut 3 provides a wider colour space. ARRI Looks, meanwhile, offers controlled cinematic colour styles for creators looking to achieve a more refined visual aesthetic.

The partnership combines HONOR’s expertise in mobile imaging and processing with ARRI’s long-standing experience in professional filmmaking. The goal is to make cinematic creation more accessible without limiting the creative freedom of users.

The upcoming HONOR Magic9 Series, scheduled to launch first in China in late September, will also feature ARRI imaging capabilities.

HONOR’s presence at Venice follows its appearances at other major film events, including the Cannes Film Festival and Shanghai International Film Festival, where the HONOR Robot Phone was showcased for filmmakers and industry professionals. These appearances reflect HONOR’s continued efforts to explore new possibilities in mobile filmmaking.

With professional filmmaking technology becoming increasingly accessible through mobile devices, HONOR and ARRI are opening up new possibilities for creators looking to capture cinematic content wherever they go.
