BYD Sime Motors, the official distributor of BYD vehicles in Malaysia, is celebrating its third anniversary with a major milestone as more than 25,000 BYD vehicles are now on Malaysian roads. Beyond sales figures, this achievement represents the growing community of over 25,000 Malaysian families who have embraced electric mobility, contributing positively to society while supporting the nation’s transition towards a more sustainable future.
Collectively, BYD owners in Malaysia help reduce more than 62,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions annually, an environmental impact equivalent to planting nearly 2.5 million trees every year. This reduction is substantial enough to circle Malaysia’s coastline more than six times, highlighting the meaningful role BYD plays in advancing the country’s green mobility and climate goals.
As Malaysia’s leading EV brand, BYD Sime Motors currently offers the largest fully electric vehicle portfolio in the country, with seven models launched to date. The BYD ATTO 3 continues to lead as the volume leader in the highly competitive C-segment SUV category. In 2025, the lineup expanded further with the introduction of the BYD ATTO 2 and BYD SEAL 6, alongside a refreshed BYD SEAL. From entry-level to premium segments, and across sedans, SUVs and MPVs, BYD continues to meet the evolving needs of Malaysian drivers by combining advanced technology, safety and affordability.

As BYD celebrates its anniversary, the brand continues to expand in Malaysia with an EV lineup that ranges from entry-level to premium and covers sedan, SUV and MPV segments, such as the BYD Dolphin, BYD M6, and BYD Sealion.
Eagle Zhao, Managing Director of BYD Malaysia, said the milestone reflects the rapid growth of EV adoption nationwide. He noted that the trust placed in BYD by Malaysian consumers has been instrumental in achieving this success, reaffirming the brand’s commitment to delivering greener, smarter and safer driving experiences while continuing to introduce world-class products and technology to the local market.
Jeffrey Gan, Managing Director of Sime Motors Southeast Asia, added that in just three years, BYD has become a key pillar within Sime Motors’ automotive portfolio. Supported by a strong sales and aftersales network, advanced facilities and skilled local EV talent, BYD has helped transform Malaysia’s roads by making electric mobility more accessible and practical for everyday use, while maintaining a strong focus on delivering an exemplary ownership experience.
This success is underpinned by BYD Sime Motors’ extensive nationwide infrastructure, which includes 39 sales and marketing outlets, 24 aftersales service centers, 12 authorized body and paint centers, and a centralized parts warehouse carrying more than 4,600 line items with a 94 percent fill rate to ensure industry-leading repair turnaround times. More than 1,000 local employees are trained at BYD’s dedicated Training Centre to uphold high technical and service standards across the network.
Looking ahead, BYD and Sime Motors reaffirm their commitment to shaping Malaysia’s EV future. The 2026 roadmap includes network expansion, deeper integration of advanced technologies and the establishment of local CKD assembly operations, aimed at creating sustainable value and generating new employment opportunities for the local automotive ecosystem.
With the deadline for full tax exemptions on fully imported EVs approaching, BYD Sime Motors is encouraging Malaysians to make the switch to electric during its year-end promotion period. Customers can enjoy savings of up to RM20,000 on selected BYD models, making this a timely opportunity to experience electric mobility with Malaysia’s No.1 EV brand.
