ABS Greentech Sdn Bhd is pleased to announce the successful soft launch of the 2nd Asia Smart Farming (ASF) 2024, that held today from 9 to 11 AM at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC). The event was inaugurated by Dato Syed Munshe Afdzaruddin, who serves as the Organizing Chairman of Smart Farming 2024. This soft launch acted as a precursor to the upcoming 2nd Asia Smart Farming and Food Security Conference and Exhibition, which is scheduled to be held from the 25th to the 27th of October 2024 at PICC.

The company works in conjunction with international organizations including Koppert Biological Systems, PRIVA, Lentiz Education Group, Rijk Zwaan, and Powerplants to meet the demand for safer and pesticide-free agricultural products. In our capacity as pioneers in the agricultural sector, we enthusiastically support the implementation of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and Smart Agriculture programs in order to change the production of food. Attendees in today’s event included members of the diplomatic corps, technocrats, agropreneurs, agricultural marketers, industry actors, technicians, and young farmers with an entrepreneurial spirit. During this event, the promotion of smart farming practices that do not include the use of pesticides was brought to light. These practices have the potential to revolutionize agricultural practices, which might result in increased yields, increased sustainability, and safer consumption.
At the first-ever Smart Farming event, which took place in 2023, ABS Greentech Sdn. Bhd. inked eleven memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with a variety of worldwide industry partners in order to finance projects in the smart agriculture sector. The Chief Executive Officer of ABS Greentech Sdn Bhd, R M Ravichandar, made an announcement regarding a funding commitment of RM550 million. The purpose of this finance commitment is to assist in the development of smart farming techniques and to promote food security in Malaysia.
ABS Greentech anticipates that it will be able to sign additional memorandums of understanding (MOUs) with worldwide industry participants in order to fund new agricultural projects during the upcoming ASF 2024. Innovations in intelligent farming that make use of Integrated Pest Management, which does not include the use of pesticides, will be presented at ASF 2024.
For the purpose of bringing together technologists, industry leaders, technocrats, and bankers, the ASF 2024 will serve as a forum that is favorable to their meeting. The purpose of this event is to provide policymakers and industry stakeholders with the opportunity to perform comparative studies of Malaysia’s agricultural technologies with those of neighboring countries. These analyses will be conducted within the context of improving food security and aligning with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles.
Dato Syed Munshe Afdzaruddin, Chairman of the Advisory Board of ABS Greentech Sdn. Bhd. and Chairman of Asia Smart Farming & Food Security 2024 (ASF 2024), made the following statement during his welcoming remarks: “The soft launch today aims to reinforce our shared commitment to transforming the agricultural sector into activities that are modern and high-tech.”
This is in line with the National Agro-Food Policy 2021-2030 (NAP 2.0) that was established by the Government of Malaysia. This policy envisions an agro-food industry that is sustainable, resilient, and high-tech in order to drive economic growth, improve the well-being of the people, and prioritize food and nutrition security.
The audience that is here today was also encouraged by Dato Syed Munshe Afdzaruddin to promote the Asia Science Forum 2024. He suggested that industry players, technology suppliers, and key stakeholders within their local and international networks to participate in the event either as exhibitors or as seminar attendees.
As the event’s organizer, ABS Greentech is convinced that ASF 2024 will serve as an effective forum for stakeholders in the agricultural industry to share their perspectives and experiences, as well as to demonstrate new technologies and products, with the goal of achieving high yields and ensuring the safety of food production.
