BREGO Life Sciences Unveils RISE Program to Empower Malaysia’s Emerging Clinician-Researchers

BREGO Life Sciences has officially introduced the Powering Mobility: RISE Program, a dedicated investigator-led initiative designed to bridge the gap between bedside clinical observation and structured scientific research among Malaysian healthcare professionals.

Standing for Research, Innovation & Scientific Excellence the RISE program provides a formalized framework for eligible medical officers and clinicians to develop, structure and submit clinically relevant studies and case reports. The initiative primarily targets two vital therapeutic areas that heavily impact quality of life: Joint Health and Nerve Health.

The launch coincides with clear evidence of systemic bottlenecks facing clinician-led studies in the country. A recent survey conducted across three government hospitals revealed a striking paradox: while 100% of participating specialists recognized the direct societal and patient benefits of clinical investigation, only 44.9% were actively involved in ongoing research. The primary obstacles cited included limited access to specialized research expertise, a shortage of statistical software and analytical support and administrative friction when navigating complex regulatory approvals.

Dr. Danny Wong, Managing Director of BREGO Life Sciences, emphasized that everyday patient consultations generate critical clinical questions that often fail to materialize into formal studies due to a lack of institutional scaffolding. According to Dr. Wong, RISE aims to demystify this trajectory by providing practical resources and clear routes toward peer evaluation, ultimately enriching the local biomedical evidence base.

The launch took place during the inaugural BREGO Clinical Research Day, organized in collaboration with representatives from the Ministry of Health’s Clinical Research Centre (CRC) and the Medical Research and Ethics Committee (MREC). The sessions guided participants through project ideation, ethical compliance and strategies for taking raw concepts through to peer-reviewed publication.

Under the current 2026/2027 cycle, which remains open until late January 2027, BREGO will accept abstracts from eligible healthcare professionals. Independent scientific reviewers will select up to 20 submissions per therapeutic track (40 in total), offering selected top-performing candidates targeted development opportunities and ongoing support based on clinical relevance, methodological feasibility and scientific rigor.
