“Swipe Kanan Kiri” Marks Historic Hipdut Collaboration Between Indonesia and Japan

Sony Music Indonesia and Sony Music Japan have officially joined forces in a groundbreaking cross-country collaboration project that brings the hipdut genre to an international stage. The initiative introduces a unique musical fusion through a collaborative single titled “Swipe Kanan Kiri,” featuring Sisca Saras from WeCord and Japan-based artist NecoMe (Ayaka Yasumoto). This project marks a significant milestone in bridging Indonesian and Japanese music markets through cultural exchange and creative experimentation.

The single is produced by F4dli of FloorInc., who previously gained attention for his viral hit “Aku Dah Lupa” performed by Mikky-Zia. He shared that the opportunity came after Sony Music Indonesia and Sony Music Japan recognized his distinctive sound and invited him to collaborate on an international project. Through continuous communication and creative discussions, the collaboration evolved into a track that blends two cultures into one cohesive musical identity.

Sisca Saras expressed her excitement about working with NecoMe (Ayaka Yasumoto), highlighting that this was her first international collaboration. She noted that both artists share similar backgrounds as former idols, which helped them connect creatively despite the language barrier. With translation support during workshops, both sides worked carefully to ensure that the song maintained harmony while still reflecting two different languages and artistic identities.

The recording process took place in January 2026, when the Sony Music Japan team visited Jakarta. Within just five days, the teams successfully completed two songs, one music video, and seven additional content pieces. Due to the fast-paced and productive workflow, Sony Music Japan was highly enthusiastic about the project and set April 10 as the official release date for “Swipe Kanan Kiri,” aligning it with key milestones in NecoMe’s music journey in Japan.

The decision to use hipdut as the foundation of the track was intentional, as the genre continues to gain popularity among younger audiences. Hipdut combines modern hip hop elements with Indonesia’s signature dangdut style, creating a vibrant and danceable sound. Producer F4dli incorporated koplo and dangdut rhythms while blending Japanese melodic influences to create a fresh cross-cultural sound that feels both familiar and innovative.

Sisca also shared that performing a hipdut track was an enjoyable experience, especially since she is already a fan of upbeat and danceable music. She described the recording process as smooth and fun, with the genre allowing her to express herself more freely. Singing in two languages within a hipdut framework also gave her a new artistic experience that expanded her musical versatility.

According to Sony Music Indonesia, the “Hipdut Goes Through Japan” initiative represents an important step in introducing Indonesian music to the global stage. The collaboration is expected to open more opportunities for Indonesian artists to reach international audiences, while also strengthening NecoMe’s position in Japan’s evolving music scene. It is also seen as a foundation for future cross-border projects between the two countries.

As part of the ongoing collaboration series, the Sony Music Japan team later returned to the Sony Music Indonesia studio for another recording session with F4dli, this time involving a different lineup of artists. This continuation signals that the project is only the beginning of a larger Indonesia–Japan music collaboration initiative.

The debut single “Swipe Kanan Kiri” by Sisca Saras and NecoMe (Ayaka Yasumoto) will be available on all major digital streaming platforms starting April 10.
