Honda Malaysia today officially launched the New CR-V, marking a significant milestone in the brand’s hybrid expansion strategy with the introduction of two hybrid variants within a single model line-up for the first time. The New CR-V is now offered in the new e:HEV E and the flagship e:HEV RS variants, reinforcing the company’s commitment to delivering advanced electrified mobility while maintaining its signature “Fun To Drive” experience for more Malaysians.
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Narushi Yazaki, said the CR-V has long served as the company’s flagship model and a key pillar of its success in Malaysia. He added that the introduction of a new hybrid variant underscores Honda Malaysia’s continued efforts to make hybrid technology more accessible to a broader customer base, while accelerating the growth of its hybrid footprint in the local market.
At the core of the hybrid variants is Honda’s advanced 2.0L e:HEV powertrain, delivering 184PS and 335Nm of torque. Engineered to meet the demands of an SUV, the powertrain provides smooth, responsive and highly efficient hybrid performance. The system intelligently switches between three driving modes — EV Drive, Hybrid Drive and Engine Drive — automatically selecting the most efficient mode based on real-time driving conditions. Further enhancing the driving experience, the e:HEV variants feature an exclusive Individual Drive Mode, allowing drivers to personalise their driving dynamics according to their preferences for a more tailored experience.
The New CR-V also receives exterior and interior refinements that elevate its premium SUV appeal while enhancing practicality and safety. A striking new colour option, Blazing Red Pearl, has been introduced to complement its bold and sophisticated design. All variants now come standard with Honda Authorised Solar and Security tint film by ECOTINT, offering improved comfort and protection.
The hybrid variants are fitted with distinctive 18-inch Berlina Black alloy wheels, while the turbocharged variant features 18-inch Sparkle Silver alloy wheels, highlighting their respective identities. Inside the cabin, the New CR-V e:HEV RS variant features a darker hairline film finish on the dashboard for a more premium ambience, along with seats embossed with the RS logo to reinforce its sporty flagship character.
Cross Traffic Monitor
In terms of technology and safety, the New CR-V introduces a range of advanced features designed to enhance convenience and driver confidence. A 9-inch Advanced Display Audio system comes standard, supporting wireless Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ for seamless connectivity. With Google Audio Services integrated into the system, drivers can access hands-free Google Assistant, real-time navigation via Google Maps and a variety of applications through Google Play.
For the first time, Honda Malaysia introduces a Digital Key feature with the New CR-V, enabling owners to lock and unlock the vehicle and start the engine using a mobile device. This feature can function as an optional primary key, delivering greater flexibility and a more modern ownership experience. Additional remote functions, including Remote Window Close and Remote Power Tailgate, are integrated into the Honda CONNECT mobile application for added convenience.
Safety is further enhanced with the Blind Spot Information system, which monitors hard-to-see areas such as diagonal rear blind spots and alerts the driver via illuminated indicators in the side mirrors when a vehicle is detected. The Cross Traffic Monitor system provides added peace of mind by detecting vehicles approaching from either side when reversing, particularly in tight parking spaces, and alerts the driver to potential hazards for safer manoeuvring.
