Solarvest and Huawei Malaysia Partner to Launch Solar + Storage Solutions

Huawei

In a groundbreaking step towards bolstering Malaysia’s clean energy agenda, Solarvest Holdings Berhad and Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd have unveiled a transformative initiative that is set to accelerate the adoption of renewable energy solutions across the nation. The collaboration, centered on the development and implementation of Solar Plus storage solutions, aims to strengthen Malaysia’s energy resilience while meeting carbon emission reduction targets.

The partnership combines Solarvest’s expertise as a Clean Energy Developer with Huawei Malaysia’s cutting-edge digital power technologies. By leveraging Huawei’s advanced Smart PV inverters and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), the collaboration is poised to redefine the landscape of renewable energy solutions in Malaysia.

Solarvest will lead the development and execution of large-scale solar projects, including the Corporate Green Power Programme (CGPP), Large Scale Solar (LSS) farms, and the Corporate Renewable Energy Supply Scheme (CRESS). Huawei Malaysia, on the other hand, will contribute its state-of-the-art energy storage and digital power solutions to optimize these projects, ensuring enhanced energy efficiency, reliability, and sustainability.

“Malaysia is on the path to becoming a regional leader in renewable energy, and our partnership with Huawei is a testament to our commitment to accelerating this transformation,” said Mr. Davis Chong Chun Shiong, Executive Director and Group CEO of Solarvest. “By integrating innovative Smart PV technology and energy storage systems into key national projects, we aim to increase the adoption of clean energy and reduce our reliance on fossil fuels.”

Building a Sustainable Energy Ecosystem with Smart Technologies

The collaboration is focused on three strategic areas that will form the cornerstone of Malaysia’s renewable energy infrastructure:

  1. Smart PV Integration: The integration of Huawei’s smart inverters into Solarvest’s current and upcoming projects will improve energy generation and grid stability. With features such as intelligent energy management, predictive maintenance, and remote monitoring, the Smart PV technology will optimize solar energy production for both commercial and industrial clients.
  2. Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS): Huawei’s energy storage solutions will be deployed alongside solar installations to store excess power and ensure a constant supply of electricity even during periods of low sunlight. This innovative “Solar + Battery” system will strengthen Malaysia’s energy grid and provide greater reliability, especially for remote areas and businesses.
  3. Workforce Development: A key pillar of the collaboration is the cultivation of a highly skilled workforce for the green economy. Huawei Malaysia will offer comprehensive training in solar PV systems, battery storage, and electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. By nurturing local talent, the initiative aims to support the growth of Malaysia’s clean energy sector and ensure long-term sustainability.

Both companies are committed to contributing towards Malaysia’s sustainability goals, particularly the nation’s ambition to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. Huawei’s involvement in renewable energy in Malaysia is already significant, with its inverters projected to generate over 3.9 billion kWh of electricity annually, equating to a reduction of 1.81 million tonnes of CO2 emissions per year. This partnership is expected to accelerate these efforts, contributing even further to Malaysia’s ambitious clean energy transition.

Mr. Simon Sun, CEO of Huawei Malaysia, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership: “Through this collaboration with Solarvest, we aim to bolster Malaysia’s position as a renewable energy leader in Southeast Asia. By deploying advanced technologies such as Smart PV inverters and BESS, we can reduce energy wastage, improve efficiency, and contribute significantly to carbon reduction efforts.”

Collaborative Vision for a Low-Carbon Future

At the MoU signing ceremony, held at Huawei Malaysia’s Customer Solution Innovation Center, both parties emphasized the importance of innovation and collaboration in achieving a sustainable, low-carbon future. The ceremony was attended by key figures, including Mr. Lim Chin Siu, Managing Director of Solarvest, and Mr. Chong Chern Peng, Vice President of Huawei Malaysia’s Digital Power Business.

This partnership represents a significant leap forward in Malaysia’s green energy ambitions. By combining Solarvest’s project development experience with Huawei’s technological innovations, the two companies are laying the foundation for a cleaner, more resilient energy future. Together, they aim to set new benchmarks for Malaysia’s renewable energy industry while contributing to the global fight against climate change.

“Through our collective efforts, we hope to inspire further industry collaboration and foster an ecosystem that thrives on renewable energy, technology, and sustainability,” concluded Mr. Chong Chun Shiong.
