Nearly 200 Teachers Celebrate at McDonald’s Bandar Sri Damansara with Heartfelt Appreciation and Special Performances

McDonald’s Malaysia, a brand that values community connection, proudly continues its meaningful tradition of recognising educators through its ninth annual nationwide Teacher’s Day campaign. This year’s main celebration took place at McDonald’s Bandar Sri Damansara Drive-Thru, where close to 200 teachers were honoured for their crucial contributions in shaping Malaysia’s future.

Teachers representing Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (C) Damansara, Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (C) Desa Jaya 2, Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan Chong Hwa, and Sri Bestari International School were treated to a day of heartfelt appreciation. The event was marked by vibrant performances, interactive activities, celebrity guest appearances, and delightful McDonald’s meals, creating a festive atmosphere dedicated to celebrating the educators’ invaluable work.

Dato’ Haji Azmir Jaafar, Managing Director and Local Operating Partner of McDonald’s Malaysia, remarked, “At McDonald’s Malaysia, we see ourselves as more than a restaurant we serve as a gathering place that connects people, families, and communities. Teachers lie at the core of every community, shaping young minds and laying the foundation for a better future. Hence, it is our honour to celebrate and show our appreciation for them in a meaningful way.”

This flagship event is part of a larger Teacher’s Day campaign running throughout May 2025, which pays tribute to educators from over 300 schools nationwide. McDonald’s Malaysia hosts appreciation events at various outlets and brings celebrations directly to schools, with participating restaurants also reaching out to nearby schools to organise their own events. These efforts highlight the brand’s strong commitment to giving back to the communities it serves.

In addition, McDonald’s Malaysia is contributing RM40,000 to selected schools across the nation to upgrade staffroom facilities, aiming to create more comfortable and supportive spaces for educators. This initiative is a small token of gratitude for the tireless dedication teachers show daily.

Since its launch in 2017, the Teacher’s Day campaign has taken many forms, including the distribution of over 500,000 complimentary meal vouchers to educators nationwide in 2019 and 2022. Now in its ninth year, the campaign remains a symbol of McDonald’s enduring commitment to celebrating and supporting educators throughout Malaysia.

This campaign is also part of Program Komuniti @ McDonald’s, the company’s long-term community engagement platform. Annually, McDonald’s Malaysia organises over 10,000 community-centric activities, ranging from support for underprivileged families to appreciation events for teachers and frontliners.

“By hosting celebrations like these, we aim to offer more than just meals we want to create joyful moments that strengthen community bonds,” added Dato’ Haji Azmir. “Teachers are the heart of every neighbourhood, and we are privileged to play a role in honouring their passion and dedication.”
