The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) marked its 20th anniversary with a grand celebration on 12 June, themed “Celebrating the Past 20. Shaping the Next 20.” The event gathered industry players, clients, and partners for an evening of appreciation and reflection.
Hosted by singer and actress Atilia Haron, the celebration featured performances and locally-sourced, sustainable cuisine including dishes served on ice sculptures. Since 2005, KLCC has hosted over 22,000 events, welcomed 29 million visitors, and contributed RM12.6 billion to Malaysia’s economy.
General Manager John Burke highlighted the Centre’s commitment to adapting to changing event formats and driving sustainability, such as using green energy, composting 100% of food waste, and sourcing 70% of ingredients locally.
KLCC is the only Malaysian venue to have hosted three ASEAN Summits, most recently the 46th ASEAN Summit in May 2025. It has also welcomed notable figures like Barack Obama, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, and David Beckham.
The Centre extended its gratitude to KLCC (Holdings), ASM Global, KLCCBEA members, MOTAC, MyCEB, MACEOS, and international affiliates like ICCA, UFI, and AIPC for their continuous support.
To commemorate this milestone, KLCC launched KLCC Connects, a long-term initiative uniting its sustainability and community engagement efforts across industries, NGOs, academic institutions, and SDG partners like Urbanice Malaysia.
