Grab Malaysia Collaborates with BESarawak

Southeast Asia’s leading superapp, Grab, has teamed up with Business Events Sarawak (BESarawak) to contribute to the local community in a meaningful way by donating 500 children’s books. This donation forms part of Grab Malaysia’s inaugural participation in the Outer Cities Offsite 2024 corporate incentive retreat, a significant event aimed at strengthening team relationships and supporting community empowerment.

Taking place in Kuching, Sarawak, the Outer Cities Offsite 2024 retreat brings together 70 Grab employees from Malaysia for a unique opportunity to enhance collaboration and teamwork. The event features team-building activities, a pickleball workshop, and a friendly match. Attendees will also embark on an adventure exploring Kuching’s famous attractions and heritage trails, offering them a chance to connect with the city’s rich culture and history.

Grab Malaysia’s partnership with BESarawak is part of its ongoing commitment to social responsibility. The donation of the children’s books is linked to Books Build Legacy, a corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative by BESarawak. This programme aims to bridge the gap between corporate organizations and local communities, particularly those that are marginalized.

Amelia Roziman, CEO of BESarawak, expressed her pride in the collaboration, emphasizing the impact of small actions on larger outcomes. “Books Build Legacy has become a powerful partnership programme to connect corporate organisations with local communities,” she said. “It’s heartening to see Grab Malaysia actively supporting this cause, and we hope that more business event planners will be inspired to take part in creating positive change.”

Books Build Legacy is a strategic initiative within the business events industry that aims to create a lasting social impact. It encourages the corporate world to contribute to community development through the events they host, ensuring that business meetings, incentives, conventions, and exhibitions leave behind a positive legacy for future generations.

By combining team-building activities with charitable giving, Grab Malaysia’s participation in the Outer Cities Offsite 2024 underscores the company’s dedication to both internal collaboration and external community empowerment. This event highlights the importance of fostering strong relationships within organizations while also contributing to the development of local communities, demonstrating that corporate retreats can be both impactful and meaningful.

For Grab, this event marks a pivotal moment in the company’s journey, as it is the first time hosting a corporate incentive retreat in Sarawak. The collaboration with BESarawak serves as an example of how businesses can leverage their platforms to support initiatives that benefit both employees and the surrounding communities.

As Grab continues to expand its footprint in Malaysia, initiatives like Books Build Legacy reflect the company’s broader mission to foster a more inclusive and supportive society, where corporate success goes hand-in-hand with social responsibility. With more business event planners encouraged to get involved, this partnership between Grab and BESarawak sets a promising example of how corporate events can be used as a catalyst for social good.
