GEORGE TOWN, PENANG – Wedding traditions are taking on a new meaning as Malaysian bedding specialist Getha introduces its With Love, Getha – Wedding & Celebration Collection, a specially designed mattress range that brings together Chinese matrimonial customs, contemporary luxury and innovative sleep technology.
The collection, officially recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records as the “First Chinese Wedding Mattress in Malaysia”, was unveiled at Gurney Plaza, marking a significant milestone for the homegrown bedding brand.
Inspired by the centuries-old Chinese wedding ritual known as an chuang (安床), the collection celebrates the cultural significance of preparing the matrimonial bed before a couple begins their journey into married life.
Traditionally, the practice represents blessings for a harmonious marriage, happiness, prosperity and a meaningful beginning for newlyweds. Although the customs may differ between families, the preparation of the wedding bed remains a cherished tradition within many Chinese households.
Recognising the emotional importance of this ritual, Getha has transformed the conventional mattress into a meaningful part of the wedding celebration, allowing couples to preserve their heritage while enjoying the benefits of modern bedding technology.

The collection features elegant red detailing along the sides of the mattresses, complemented by the traditional double-happiness symbol (囍), an iconic representation of marriage and good fortune in Chinese culture.
Beyond its decorative appeal, the collection also offers couples the opportunity to create personalised mattresses featuring their names, wedding dates and even specially designed wedding logos.
Customers can select embroidery in Gold, Navy Blue or Dark Brown thread, with standard personalisation accommodating up to 18 characters per row using the Brush Script MT font.
For those looking for something more exclusive, Getha provides a fully customised embroidery panel, allowing couples to incorporate unique artwork or their own wedding emblem into the mattress design.
Getha Project Director Kevin Tan explained that the concept was developed to demonstrate how innovation can extend beyond advanced materials and technology to include meaningful connections with customers’ cultural traditions.
According to Tan, the company has consistently introduced new sleep innovations, including Nano Silver Protection Technology and Miracle Latex, but believes that products can also be innovative when they carry emotional and cultural significance.
He emphasised that the wedding mattress was designed to become a genuine part of a couple’s new beginning rather than simply serving as a decorative symbol.
The collection also caters to individuals beyond the wedding market through the With Blessing, Getha series, which replaces the double-happiness symbol with other meaningful Chinese characters.
These include 愛 for love, 發 for prosperity, 財 for wealth and 福 for blessings and good fortune, offering customers additional ways to personalise their bedrooms with culturally significant designs.

While the collection embraces traditional symbolism, Getha has maintained the sleep technologies associated with its Transforme Miracle Latex mattress range.
Its Miracle Latex technology incorporates Graphite+ into 100 per cent natural latex, which the company says helps dissipate body heat while providing enhanced elasticity and comfort.
The PrimeFibre mattress variant offers additional support through rubberised coconut fibre, together with Suprelle Cool Night Fibrefill to create a cooler sleeping environment.
With these features, the collection aims to provide couples with a mattress that represents both the emotional significance of marriage and the practical comfort needed for everyday living.
The With Love, Getha Wedding & Celebration Collection is available in Queen and King sizes, with prices starting from RM8,999 for the Transforme Miracle Latex Queen mattress and RM9,999 for the King version.
For customers seeking the PrimeFibre variant, prices are RM12,999 for Queen size and RM13,999 for King size.
As part of the promotional campaign, customers can enjoy a 35 per cent discount on the Transforme Miracle Latex collection, alongside trade-in rebates of up to RM1,500.
With the applicable promotions, the Queen-sized wedding mattress can be purchased from RM4,349.35, subject to terms and conditions.
Personalised embroidery is available from RM188 for one row and RM288 for two rows, while a fully customised embroidery panel is priced at RM888.
Each mattress purchase also includes a complimentary pair of Getha Double Happiness cushions upon request, adding another meaningful touch to the wedding bedroom.
The launch took place alongside the opening of Getha’s new Sleep Therapy Center at Gurney Plaza, Level 3, Lot 170-03-72/73, creating a double celebration for the brand.
As modern couples increasingly seek ways to incorporate personal identity and cultural heritage into their wedding celebrations, Getha’s latest collection demonstrates how traditional practices can evolve without losing their original meaning.
The With Love, Getha Wedding & Celebration Collection is now available at Getha Sleep Therapy Centres, authorised dealers and the official online store.
