On December 21, 2024, GDEX Berhad celebrated a momentous achievement with the successful conclusion of its second Skills Development Program Graduation Ceremony, held at the M Theatre, Mahsa Avenue. The ceremony honored 66 graduates who completed the program, showcasing their newly acquired technical and professional skills. Among them, 20 graduates received the Malaysian Skills Certificate (SKM), while 46 were awarded the Malaysian Skills Diploma (DKM).
The Skills Development Program, a collaboration between GDEX and the Department of Skills Development Malaysia (JPK), aims to bolster the technical and professional competencies of GDEX employees. This initiative is also in alignment with the Malaysian Government’s National TVET Policy 2030, which emphasizes the advancement of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to support the nation’s economic growth.
Mr. Teong Teck Lean, Managing Director and Group CEO of GDEX Berhad, expressed his pride in the program’s success, stating, “Training and upskilling our people has always been a priority for GDEX. We recognize that personal development and capacity building are crucial, and our Learning Academy was among the first to be established in the courier industry. I am thrilled to witness this significant milestone and am incredibly proud of the efforts of our graduates.”
This year’s ceremony marked a significant growth for the program, which began with only 10 graduates in its inaugural year (2020) and expanded to 66 in 2024. This increase is a testament to GDEX’s ongoing commitment to offering valuable upskilling opportunities to its workforce.
The ceremony was attended by graduates, their families, GDEX’s management, employees, and esteemed representatives from various government agencies. Tan Sri Muhammad bin Ibrahim, Chairman of GDEX Berhad, officiated the event, which emphasized the importance of industry-government collaboration in fostering skills-based education and preparing the workforce for future demands. GDEX’s dedication to empowering employees and enhancing their professional skills reflects the company’s vision to create a workforce ready for the challenges of tomorrow.
