Danwan Corporation Welcomes Favorable Legal Decision

Danwan Corporation Sdn Bhd has officially welcomed the favorable decision delivered by the High Court regarding substantive judicial review application No. WA-25-336-09/2025. The legal proceedings focused primarily on the company’s prominent outdoor advertising gantry structure located at KM 32.9 of the Federal Highway, along the Subang-bound lane heading toward Kuala Lumpur.

Affirmation Of Federal Road Reserve Jurisdiction

In its landmark ruling, the High Court affirmed the validity of the infrastructure framework, recognizing that the gantry is situated on a designated federal road reserve. Furthermore, the court confirmed that the structure operates under a lawful licence issued directly by the Ministry of Works (KKR), pursuant to Section 85A of the Road Transport Act 1987. Danwan’s legal team successfully advanced the argument that regulatory governance for billboard structures along federal routes falls strictly within the purview of the Ministry of Works, operating independently of local authority by laws. This position was reinforced by previous court decisions as well as the overarching stance taken by the Federal Cabinet and the Selangor State Government.

Commitment To Future Regulatory Collaboration

Commenting on the court’s verdict, Stanley Ho, Business Development Director of Danwan Corporation Sdn Bhd, stated that the company is grateful for the judicial clarity. He clarified that the legal process was pursued purely to establish an authoritative understanding regarding jurisdictional boundaries between federal road reserves and local authority oversight, emphasizing that it was never intended as a challenge to local governance.

Looking ahead, Danwan expressed its full commitment to working hand in hand with all regulatory stakeholders. The company aims to ensure that its outdoor media structures continue to safely serve public commerce while aligning harmoniously with broader urban and community planning objectives.
