The Borneo Blockchain Conference (BBCON) 2026 is set to return on 18 and 19 November 2026 at voco by IHG Hotel Kuching, bringing together industry leaders, policymakers, developers, startups, investors, researchers and students to explore the next phase of digital transformation across Borneo and the ASEAN region. Building on the success of its inaugural edition in 2025, the conference aims to strengthen collaboration and accelerate the adoption of trusted digital technologies that can deliver meaningful impact across industries.
Organised by the Kuching Blockchain Technology Association (KBTA) in collaboration with Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Sarawak and Metadise Sdn Bhd, BBCON 2026 reflects the growing momentum of the blockchain and digital technology ecosystem in the region. Following a successful debut that attracted more than 600 delegates, 30 speakers and participants from 12 countries, this year’s edition is expected to welcome over 1,000 regional and international delegates. The event continues to receive support from Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) and Business Events Sarawak (BESarawak), reinforcing Sarawak’s commitment to becoming a leading digital economy hub.
Carrying the theme “From Vision to Execution: Building Secured Digital Future,” BBCON 2026 will focus on Trusted Digital Infrastructure, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Post-Quantum Cryptography. The conference aims to move beyond awareness and exploration, encouraging practical implementation of emerging technologies across sectors such as finance, healthcare, public services and enterprise systems. Through knowledge sharing and strategic partnerships, the event seeks to bridge the gap between innovation and real-world deployment.
Participants can look forward to an extensive programme featuring keynote presentations and fireside chats with government and industry leaders, plenary sessions on digital infrastructure and emerging technologies, and panel discussions covering topics such as cross-border payments, central bank digital currencies (CBDCs), tokenisation and digital assets. The conference will also include technical deep dives into Zero-Knowledge Proofs (ZK) and data privacy, offering valuable insights into the technologies shaping the future of digital trust and cybersecurity.
In addition to thought leadership sessions, BBCON 2026 will provide startup, builder and talent pitching opportunities designed to connect innovators with investors and strategic partners. Dedicated networking sessions and invitation-only roundtable discussions involving regulators, policymakers, financial institutions and ecosystem leaders will further encourage collaboration and investment. The conference will conclude with a closing synthesis and the introduction of the Kuching Declaration, aligned with Sarawak’s Post COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030) and Malaysia’s 13th Malaysia Plan.
According to Dato Dr. Anderson Tiong Ing Heng, General Manager of Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA), platforms such as BBCON 2026 play an important role in fostering innovation, collaboration and talent development as Sarawak advances its digital economy agenda. Meanwhile, Business Events Sarawak Acting CEO Jason Tan Chin Foo highlighted the importance of creating platforms that encourage knowledge sharing and informed discussions on blockchain technology, cybersecurity and digital trust.
KBTA President Gan Beng Yoke noted that the conversation around blockchain and emerging technologies is rapidly evolving from awareness to implementation. He emphasised that BBCON 2026 is designed to strengthen collaboration between industry, academia, government agencies, startups and investors while creating more opportunities for innovation, talent development and real-world adoption across the region.
As digital transformation continues to reshape economies worldwide, BBCON 2026 is poised to become a key platform for stakeholders seeking to understand, adopt and implement trusted digital technologies. The conference welcomes participants from diverse industries and sectors to be part of the discussions shaping the future of innovation, digital trust and regional collaboration across Borneo and ASEAN.
