Automechanika Kuala Lumpur 2025 Strengthens Malaysia’s Position as a Regional Leader in the Automotive Industry

The premier automotive trade exhibition, Automechanika Kuala Lumpur 2025 (AMKL2025), officially opened today at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), featuring 311 exhibitors from 21 countries. The opening ceremony was officiated by Faizal Mohd Yusof, Senior Director of the Industry Development Division, Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI).

Held from 15 to 17 May, this year’s edition expanded the exhibition to six main halls in response to growing demand in both the local and regional automotive industries. The event also leverages Malaysia’s role as the chair of ASEAN 2025 to highlight the country’s position as a regional leader in automotive development.

Michael Johannes, Vice President of Mobility & Logistics, Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH expressed his delight at Malaysia for consistently being ready and open to engage in doing business, which became one of the reasons AMKL2025 expanded from five to six halls this year.

Showcasing a diverse range of vehicles including Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) models, classic cars, and audio-modified vehicles, AMKL2025 combines business to business (B2B) elements with consumer friendly features, providing a comprehensive view of the evolving and maturing automotive sector. Prominent brands participating include Alienworld, EV Connection, Kineta, TecAlliance, Launch, and YonMing Group.

One of the key attractions this year is the practical training workshops focusing on collision repair techniques involving internal combustion engine (ICE) technology and new energy vehicles (NEV). These workshops also emphasize electric vehicle (EV) safety, high-voltage repair methods, and live vehicle painting demonstrations, aligning with the government’s aspiration to achieve net zero carbon emissions.

Additionally, the Automotive Mobility Solutions Conference provides a platform for in-depth discussions on energy transition, electrification, and digitalization the three main pillars shaping the future of mobility in ASEAN. The ongoing dialogues and forums also address sustainability challenges and industry competitiveness amid technological and global climate changes.

“Automechanika Kuala Lumpur 2025 showcases Malaysia’s leadership in driving a sustainable automotive industry,” remarked Faizal. “By connecting local companies with global leaders, we’re fostering economic growth and a smarter, greener future for ASEAN.”

In his speech, Datuk Hanafi said, “Automechanika Kuala Lumpur 2025 reflects Malaysia’s continuous commitment to leading a sustainable automotive industry. Events like this not only open doors for global collaboration but also drive economic growth and long-term sustainability for the entire region.”

Fiona Chiew, General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, highlighted that Automechanika Kuala Lumpur has remained a key trade platform for over 20 years. “We aim to showcase Malaysia’s strengths in the automotive supply chain and open pathways to international markets for local companies,” she stated.

Not to be missed, the autoFEST@KL segment has attracted attention with exhibitions of modified vehicles, aftermarket technologies, and various sustainable mobility solutions easily accessible to consumers. This segment acts as an educational platform to expose visitors to emerging automotive innovations.

The strong turnout at the 2025 edition reflects growing global interest in Malaysia’s automotive market. For local players, AMKL2025 offers extensive opportunities to explore new technologies, understand international standards, and establish strategic partnerships with industry leaders worldwide.
