HONOR Magic V6 Pulls a 1.25-Ton Plane to Smash Asian Foldable Durability Record

When a tech brand claims its new smartphone can tow a commercial plane, skepticism is natural. But HONOR just proved it by using its upcoming foldable flagship, the HONOR Magic V6, to pull a 1.25-tonne Diamond DA42 aircraft for 150 meters across the tarmac. The stunt, held at the SkyPark Regional Aviation Centre, officially bagged an ASIA Record for the “Heaviest Aircraft Towed by a Foldable Smartphone.” To show it wasn’t a fluke, the ultra-slim 8.75mm phone also towed a Ferrari sports car for 30 meters and even served as a fully functional human pull-up bar, walking away from the entire ordeal without a single dent, scratch, or glitch.

The secret behind this mind-boggling strength is HONOR’s proprietary Super Steel Hinge tech. This mechanism boasts a tensile strength of 2,800 MPa, a rigidity rating that actually outperforms the heavy-duty steel pillars used in passenger cars. Built to last, the hinge has been tested to survive 500,000 folds—amounting to more than 13 years of heavy daily use. On top of that, an AI-driven bionic cushioning system is integrated directly into the core framework, acting as a microscopic shock absorber that diffuses impact forces during accidental drops.

The phone’s exterior defenses are just as impressive, featuring an outer display encased in an Anti-Scratch Nano Crystal Shield. This shield relies on a microscopic 5,600-layer silicon nitride coating to deliver a 10-times leap in drop resistance and 15-times better scratch protection, which was proven on-site when the screen survived a high-intensity wire brush drill test without a mark. Open the phone, and you get a massive, virtually crease-free inner display dubbed the Magic Diamond Screen, which utilizes flexible Ultra-Thin Glass (UTG). It also sets a new industry milestone as the first foldable to simultaneously secure IP68 and IP69 ratings, making it completely immune to dust, high-pressure water jets, and deep freshwater submersion up to 1.5 meters.

The HONOR Magic V6 is scheduled for its official Malaysian release on June 4, 2026. Tech fans can tune in to the launch livestream on HONOR Malaysia’s official Facebook page at 8:00 PM to see the device rollout in its four signature colorways: Ferghana Red, Sunrise Gold, Ivory White, and Classic Black.
