Kewpie Malaysia is celebrating the 100th anniversary of Kewpie Mayonnaise with a range of exciting initiatives, including educational partnerships, culinary collaborations, and a nationwide creative contest. First introduced in Japan in 1925 by founder Toichiro Nakashima, the iconic mayonnaise is known for its rich, creamy texture and signature umami flavour. Since entering the Malaysian market in 2009, Kewpie has remained committed to the halal market and to empowering local communities through innovation and education.
To mark this historic milestone, Kewpie Malaysia launched the “Kewpie 100th Years Mayonnaise Contest”, encouraging Malaysians to get creative in the kitchen using Kewpie Mayonnaise Japanese Style. Participants are required to create a unique dish, record a short video (30–45 seconds), and upload it to Instagram, Facebook or TikTok with the hashtag #KewpieIt100 and tag @KewpieMalaysia, followed by submission via direct message (DM). The contest runs from 31 May to 24 August 2025, with a dream holiday to Japan and exclusive prizes up for grabs.
Kewpie Malaysia is also collaborating with popular seafood restaurant Fei Fei Crab to showcase a special menu that blends Japanese flavours with local Malaysian cuisine. This unique partnership highlights the versatility of Kewpie mayonnaise in modern fusion dishes that are both creative and delicious.
In support of youth development and education, Kewpie has also partnered with SEGi University to offer students real-world exposure to the food industry. Through industry projects featuring Kewpie products, students gain practical experience and the opportunity to apply their culinary creativity and food innovation skills.
According to Mr. Shimpei Okada, Deputy Managing Director of Kewpie Malaysia, this celebration is not only about honouring the brand’s past but also about its ongoing commitment to connecting cultures through food and inspiring the next generation. With a blend of legacy, creativity, and community engagement, Kewpie continues to inspire with every drop of its iconic mayonnaise.
