The Dugem Festival Countdown 2025 (DFC 2025) was officially launched this afternoon at a lively press conference at The Wolf Club, Metro Pudu Mall. The event, set to take place at The Landing, KL Base in Bandar Malaysia, Sungei Besi, on 31st December 2024, is poised to make history as the first-ever Dugem music festival in Malaysia, ushering in the new year with an exciting lineup of both local and international talents.
Dugem, short for Dunia Gemelapan (meaning “World of Darkness”), is a unique and soulful dance music genre that originated in Indonesia. Characterized by its energetic beats and hypnotic rhythms, Dugem has taken Indonesia’s nightlife scene by storm and has steadily gained a following in Malaysia over the past decade. Despite its popularity in dance clubs across the region, the Dugem Festival Countdown 2025 marks the very first festival of its kind to be held in Peninsular Malaysia.
En Muhammad Adnan bin Mohd Dicky, the spokesperson for the Dugem Festival Countdown 2025, shared the event’s mission during the press conference: “By hosting this event, we aim to unite the people of Nusantara — regardless of their different ages, ethnicities, or cultural backgrounds — in a fun, welcoming, and exciting dance festival,” he said.
The festival is set to draw music lovers from across Southeast Asia, with a particular focus on fans from Indonesia, Singapore, Brunei, and East Malaysia. The organizers aim to create a space where people can come together to enjoy the infectious beats of Dugem music in an inclusive environment.
The festival will feature an impressive roster of both established and emerging artists, including prominent Dugem DJs and international stars. Headlining the event are two of Indonesia’s biggest Dugem names — Cipydot and Icha Kharoline, whose explosive tracks have made waves across Indonesia and beyond.
The festival will also showcase local Dugem acts who have earned their place in Malaysia’s EDM and underground scene, such as Yonn, DJ Alyph, Jyn, Kent Wukong, DJ Ajijie, Debi Echa, Freezy Freez, Alongputra, Manz, Mirul Twin Tech, Baeby, and DJ Yahoo. Many of these artists are well-known for their unique blends of Dugem and EDM, promising an unforgettable experience for the audience.
In addition to the Indonesian headliners, an additional international act is expected to be revealed closer to the event.
The Dugem Festival Countdown will run from 3:00 PM to 1:00 AM and will be an open-air event. The venue, The Landing at KL Base, provides ample space for party-goers to experience the music in a vibrant and exhilarating atmosphere.
Organizers are committed to ensuring the safety and comfort of festival-goers. The festival will have a variety of facilities on-site, including food and beverage booths, food trucks, portable toilets, and a mosque for those who wish to perform their religious obligations. To maintain safety during inclement weather, the event will be paused temporarily if a lightning storm occurs.
Security will be a priority, with event security, RELA, and police personnel stationed throughout the festival grounds to ensure everything runs smoothly. In addition, attendees will be subject to security checks at the entrance to prevent any prohibited items from being brought in.
