The launch also marks the opening of the first BYD Certified outlet in the Asia Pacific region, located at Sime Darby Auto Selection Glenmarie, reflecting Malaysia’s importance in BYD’s regional growth strategy.
More than just a pre-owned vehicle programme, BYD Certified sets a new benchmark for pre-owned EV ownership in Malaysia. Every vehicle undergoes a professional inspection, supported by verified battery health assessments, warranty coverage, financing solutions and aftersales support. Guided by the promise “Drive Pre-Owned with Confidence”, the programme offers transparency, reliability and long-term value to customers.
During the launch ceremony, BYD Certified also completed its first customer delivery through the handover of a pre-owned BYD ATTO 3, marking another important milestone in the development of the certified pre-owned EV market in Malaysia.
BYD Malaysia Managing Director, Jacob Ma, said BYD Certified is an important step in making EV ownership more accessible to Malaysians.
According to him, as the EV market continues to mature, more customers are interested in obtaining quality pre-owned vehicles supported by assurance and professional support.
“Through BYD Certified, we are extending the BYD ownership experience to more customers, while reinforcing our commitment to supporting customers throughout their EV ownership journey, not just the vehicle itself,” he said.
Meanwhile, BYD Sime Motors Managing Director, Adeline Lew, said BYD Certified is built on strict quality standards and a transparent vehicle verification process.
She said every certified pre-owned BYD undergoes a comprehensive inspection by trained technicians and is supported by verified vehicle history records, battery health assessments and warranty coverage.
The programme also provides a trusted trade-in platform for existing BYD owners, making it easier for them to upgrade to a new BYD model while maintaining long-term ownership value.
To ensure every vehicle meets the highest standards of quality and transparency, BYD Certified introduces five key assurances to customers.
Every vehicle undergoes a comprehensive inspection covering 170 professional inspection points. Only vehicles with mileage below 100,000 kilometres qualify for certification, while the vehicle age does not exceed four years with specific mileage limits according to the period of use.
For the more, every vehicle is guaranteed to be free from major accidents, flood or fire damage, and has never undergone odometer tampering. Any refurbishment work uses genuine BYD parts according to approved repair standards.
In addition to vehicle certification, customers also enjoy various exclusive benefits that enhance convenience and peace of mind throughout the ownership period.
These include a five-day buy-back assurance if undisclosed structural, flood or fire damage is found after purchase.
