NTT DATA Debuts Autonomous AI Agents to Manage Enterprise IT Environments

NTT DATA, a global leader in AI, digital business, and technology services, today announced the launch of its Software Defined Infrastructure (SDI) Services Agent. This conversational, multi-agent system marks a major industry evolution, introducing autonomous AI capabilities designed to manage, optimize, and govern complex, multivendor enterprise IT environments. As corporate AI adoption accelerates, traditional infrastructure management models are struggling to keep up with skyrocketing data demands, a gap this new solution directly addresses.

The SDI Services Agent functions as an advanced digital twin for critical IT operational roles, transforming how corporate tech leaders interact with their digital estates. Instead of navigating fragmented dashboards, enterprises can now manage their entire infrastructure through natural language prompts. Operating as an intelligent orchestrator, the system selectively triggers specialized background agents that continuously sense, reason, and act across networking, hybrid data centers, cybersecurity, and digital workplace environments to deliver predictive intelligence.

Unlike traditional Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) AI assistants confined to single-vendor ecosystems, NTT DATA’s platform delivers enterprise-grade intelligence across diverse, multi-provider environments. The agent analyzes live telemetry, historical context, and policy guardrails to make safe, deterministic decisions. By providing real-time visibility and explainable AI outcomes, it significantly improves system resilience and slashes operational costs, all while keeping human IT teams firmly in control.

“Traditional infrastructure services are increasingly out of step with the demands of an AI-driven enterprise,” said Chris Barnard, Vice President at IDC. “NTT DATA is differentiating itself through an innovative-first multivendor agentic service experience. Its AI-first approach enables infrastructure leaders to break out of traditional maintenance models and focus on outcomes at scale.”

This launch aligns with a broader shift in corporate tech strategy highlighted in NTT DATA’s recent Global AI Report: A Playbook for AI Leaders, which found that 34.5% of AI leaders are moving away from surface-level plug-ins to invest heavily in embedding AI directly into core applications. Dilip Kumar, Global Head of Infrastructure Solutions at NTT DATA, Inc., emphasized that this conversational agentic experience allows enterprises to move beyond basic “lights on” operations and turn infrastructure performance into a strategic business differentiator.

In addition to driving efficiency and accelerating time-to-value for large-scale IT estates, the SDI Services Agent incorporates built-in sustainability insights. This unique feature helps organizations monitor, understand, and actively optimize the environmental and energy footprint of their infrastructure. The SDI Services Agent is now available globally, fully embedded within NTT DATA’s core Software Defined Infrastructure Services portfolio.
